Shiba Inu’s Susbarium Flags Unauthorized Tokens

2 min read

The Shiba Inu ecosystem is experiencing new controversy after Susbarium, the community watchdog, issued a warning. According to a post on X , the warning highlights several new tokens claiming to be linked to the Shiba Inu meme coin network. Shiba Inu Watchdog to Protect Community Members Susbarium highlighted certain tokens, such as “Shiba is Shiba,” “Happy Earth Day!”, and “Woof!!” These tokens were recently launched on Zora, a social platform built on Coinbase’s Base network. The ecosystem watchdog revealed that Ragnar Shib, a well-known ex-member of the Shiba Inu community, created these tokens. Susbarium also claimed that the tokens are not officially linked to the Shiba Inu ecosystem. As such, Susbarium urged community members to be careful and check if any project claiming to be part of the Shiba Inu family is legitimate. The platform noted that misleading promotions are becoming more common. This trend of unofficial tokens can put investors at risk and damage the overall ecosystem. Ragnar Shib Responds to Susbarium In his response on X , Ragnar Shib accused Susbarium of being dishonest. He claimed that the watchdog calls any project it doesn’t control a scam and that its warnings are “misleading and self-serving.” Ragnar said the tokens are experimental but not scams, and he encouraged the community to form their own opinions instead of just following Susbarium’s views. Ragnar also claimed that Susbarium wants to centralize the ecosystem and take control of SHIB and its official group. Others have pointed out that Ragnar’s actions in the ecosystem do not seem shady. However, the community is still discussing his actions. Heightened Security Breaches in Blockchain Recall that the Cardano community faced a wave of discussion in December 2024 after its X account was hacked. The hacker first posted a thread about a token called $ADASOL. As reported by TheCoinRise, the attacker spread a fake announcement about the token and a false claim of a lawsuit from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). These false claims caused chaos in the blockchain community, leading to confusion and financial losses . Notably, the crypto and blockchain sectors are increasingly threatened by sophisticated cyberattacks, leading to greater emphasis on security measures. In November 2023, Atomic Wallet suffered a massive breach that led to over $100 million in stolen user funds. Recently, Ethereum-based staking protocol EigenLayer suffered a $5.5M token heist after an email breach. These breaches underscore the importance of robust cybersecurity measures, particularly for organizations at the heart of decentralized finance.
