The White House has reportedly contacted Chinese officials to arrange a phone call between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The Trump administration sees the meeting as a necessary step toward reviving trade talks, according to two senior White House officials who spoke to CNN. Trump is not currently considering reimposing the 145% tariffs on China, the officials said, but warned that could change if Xi Jinping fails to stick to the agreement reached in Geneva earlier this month.
