She replaces Kristin Smith, who has led the association for nearly seven years and will join the new Solana Policy Institute as president. Mersinger has been recognized for her crypto-friendly stance during her tenure at the CFTC, notably dissenting on the agency’s settlement with Uniswap Labs in 2024, which she criticized as ‘regulation by enforcement.’ Her experience spans over two decades, including roles in both chambers of Congress and at the CFTC.
