Ethereum’s Pectra Upgrade Just Went Live — What Does It Do?

Pectra has just officially gone live, per an official post from the Ethereum Foundation. The largest fork since The Merge that turned Ethereum from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake, the Pectra upgrade is a bundle of 11 major code changes, known as Ethereum Improvement Proposals, or EIPs. Pectra is a mash-up of Prague and Electra, two upgrades happening simultaneously on the Ethereum execution and consensus layers, respectively. It was originally scheduled for 2024 but the complexity delayed it until the first quarter of 2025. But the first two testnets failed , requiring the creation of a third testnet and further delay .
